Lesson 11 A real gentleman

Something, anything
One day, I began to grouch with a small thing when we discussed about the project.
My girlish attitude appeared, I said, “I don’t want to talk with you.”
Jose smiled, “You don’t want to talk with me? Oki, but…I want to talk with you, can I? “
    … erhh…
“I don’t want to talk about the project with you!” I insisted.
Jose smiled again, “No problem, what do you want to talk about then?”
“Anything but the project.” I said glumly.
“Ok, anything, anything, anything, anything, anything…” Jose kept speaking the single word “Anything” in different tones, up flat and down, down flat and up.
    At last…
I burst into laughter and had to wave him to stop.
Jose seemed quite surprised, “You don’t like it?”
“No…” I am not a girl who can be easily pleased.
“Well, then what dou you want to talk about?” Jose asked.
    “I mean… I mean something else…”
“Ok, something else, something else, something else, something else…” Jose even began to sing the words “something else” with different kinds of tones.
    Erhh…
Standard of being a friend
One day, I told Jose, “There is somebody saying that I have many friends on the blog.”
Jose smiled, “Nice of him and it is very good for you.”
    “But I don’t feel it.” I said.
    “Why, if I may ask?”
“Because I have very high standards which means being my friend is very demanding.” I said it cooly.
    “Ohh…” Jose seemed very surprised.
“Then Miss Guo, how about me?” Jose asked.
“What dou you mean by that?” I raised my eyebows.
“I mean, ehh, do I meet your standards?” Jose said.
    “I don’t know.”
    “Oh…I supposed…” Jose stopped talking.
“What did you suppose?” I asked.
    “Nothing.” Jose smiled.
After a short silence, I asked him, “How about you?”
    “What?”
I said,  “I asked, how about you, do you have standards? Do I meet your standards?”
“Ohh, you know.” Jose shruged his shoulders, “My standards are very low, almost no standards at all. You know…”
    … Shit!
A real gentleman
One day, Jose told me he is a real gentleman and respect is his golden rule in every aspects of his life.
Like he would like to open car doors for women, lift the heavy things for women and accompany them home then come back home alone. Even in his society not many men would do that, he told me.
    I nodded.
And he began to talk about one incident he had when he took a flight. There was an old woman sitting by his side. She was so tired that she slept with her head on his shoulder. Jose was so nice that he offerred her both his pillow and blanket.
“An old woman?” I asked him suddenly.
    “Yes.” Jose said.
“Well, if she had been a yong and beautiful one, what would you have done?” I bited my lips and looked at him girlishly.
“Well…ehh…Simply I would not offer her my pillow.” Jose said honestly.
…Shit! What a real gentleman he is!
Have fun!
