丝绸之路 Silk Road——喜多郎（四国巡礼）
在谈起这首曲子的创作时，喜多郎先生说到，“在创作它时，最打动我的是中国人在悠久的历史中形成的那种心灵的深厚。在这种深厚中，人们生活着。特别是日本奈良的药师寺有一个玄奘三藏院，里面有玄奘法师的遗骨。一想到有这样的灵魂安葬在这里，我的确会产生一种很深沉的联想……领略到丝绸之路的壮美。”
我想，可能就是因为创作者的这番联想，所以我们在这首曲子里听到的不仅是叮当的驼铃、戈壁的黄沙、荒漠的空茫，更多的还是人的内心的那份深厚，还有一份“自来处来，自去处去”的空无意境。

Yes, Yuan, indeed I do; thank-you!
In fact, I was introduced to the existence of the Silk Road itself when I was a teenager by reading its fabulous story in an old book whose title I have forgotten.
And then, about ten years ago, I discovered the Silk Road Ensemble – the musical part of the Silk Road Project – which is a collective of internationally renowned performers and composers from more than 20 countries.
Each Ensemble member’s career illustrates a unique response to what is one of the artistic challenges of our times: to maintain the integrity of art rooted in authentic traditions while nourishing global connections.
Many of the musicians first came together under the artistic direction of Yo-Yo Ma, the internationally recognized cello virtuoso, at a workshop at Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts in 2000.
Since then, in various configurations, Ensemble artists have collaborated on a variety of diverse ranges of musical and multimedia projects, presenting very innovative performances that spring from Eastern and Western traditions and contemporary musical crossroads.
The Silk Road Ensemble has recorded at least five albums that I know of and performed to critical acclaim throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
